Luna is a rescue/shelter dog who came from the Crow Indian Reservation in central Montana. She likes to roughhouse when she plays and her collar takes a beating from other dogs. She and our neighbor’s Pyrenees-mix grab each other by the scruff of the necks and sometimes by the collar itself with their teeth. This is dangerous because one of them could get their jaw stuck under the collar or, worse yet, the collar could become twisted into a tourniquet that could suffocate one of them. Because of this, we always closely supervise their play. That being said, this collar still looks great after two years once it gets a quick wash. I usually put a tiny bit of dog shampoo or Tide Unscented/Sensitive Skin in some warm water in a bucket and let it soak over night. In the morning, I rinse it and wring it out and let it air dry. It’s an amazingly durable and attractive collar. Our two other dogs who have passed (one at 15 and the other 16) wore these collars as well. Highly recommended!
