Behind the Design: Fall/Winter '26 Collection

A typical day in a dog’s life is full of unexpected exploration. Dogs don’t always move in predictable ways; they take shortcuts underneath brush and undergrowth, bound through freshly fallen snow, and splash mud puddles without a second thought.

Designing apparel for that kind of variety of movement starts with understanding how dogs interact with the world around them, and then building gear that supports the way they move. This is how the Fall/Winter Collection began — with genuine curiosity for a dog’s lived experience.

We approached it with the intention to leave out anything superfluous, distracting, or otherwise cumbersome. Our goal was to streamline in every way — from the design of the gear itself to the small efficiencies created in its everyday usage.

Similar to recent innovations in human gear, we sought to achieve more through simplifying, and letting the lifestyle that surrounded each piece do the talking. Soft fleece for cozy moments by the fire; rugged, heavy duty fabric for outdoor work; high-loft warmth for cold, winter dawn patrols. Nothing extra, just the right material for the activity and everything your dog needs to go work, explore, or relax.

We asked Monica Broder, Senior Manager of Design, to walk us through what shaped this season's collection and how it impacts a dog’s day-to-day.

Overcoat Fuse™: Built Like Workwear

The Overcoat Fuse™ Vest was directly inspired by human gear and workwear style. We looked at what we loved about outerwear built for labor-intensive, outdoor work, and where those elements made the most sense for dogs.

It all came down to the fabric. “We found that what often resonated was heavier, higher denier fabrics that are not only durable, but also visually burly,” says Broder.

Except there was one problem. Heavier, higher-denier fabric has to move differently to accommodate canine movement. So, the team went through what Broder described as “a lot of trial and error” before landing on a fabric that could do two things at once: hold up structurally in rough terrain, and drape naturally on a dog's body — all while keeping that unmistakable workwear vibe.

We also wanted the vest to resonate specifically with working dogs, so they looked at the colors their humans were wearing — earthy, more muted tones, that didn’t show dirt as easily as other color ways. The result was a vest that’s built for rugged terrain with an abrasion-resistant shell, integrated harness, and high-loft insulation that keeps dogs warm as the weather starts to cool.

Powder Hound™: Two Decades of Design

Over the years, we’ve built and rebuilt winter jackets multiple times — the Powder Hound™, Quinzee™, Vert™, and Furness™ all evolved from a progression of tinkering, innovating, and re-imagining. This season is where all of that knowledge converged to produce a lineup of winter gear where every detail is carefully considered.

“We've really consolidated all of our learnings through those styles and created an easy-to-navigate collection that I think solves the needs of most pups in the winter time,” says Broder.

Our thought process for the Powder Hound™ Jacket went back to something that might be familiar to anyone who's dressed for winter sports. “As humans, we often use a layering system — a midlayer for warmth and a shell for waterproofness,” Broder says. But that two-piece logic isn’t necessarily the most efficient when it comes to our dogs.

“We recognized that there is a need for a more versatile solution that provides an easy on/off experience, and gets us out of the car and onto the trail faster.” So instead of building a midlayer and a shell as separate pieces, the team combined insulation and waterproofing into one.

That decision opened the door to multiple silhouettes rather than just a single jacket.

“Some dogs might have shorter hair or live in a super frigid environment, which would lead them to the Powder Hound™ Coverall. Some may just need a layer to keep the chill off when they're cruising down the slopes with their human, so they might opt for the Powder Hound™ Vest.” Both feature the same core construction — but with different amounts of coverage, depending on your dog’s coat and the conditions they're spending the most time in.

“The Powder Hound™ Collection is truly inspired by our own adventures with our dogs,” Broder says. ”It has really organically evolved because of the needs of the different dogs on our team, whether they're backcountry skiing, nordic skiing, or just hanging out at the base of the ski resort.”

The Timberline Fuse™: For Comfort’s Sake

The Timberline Fuse™ Vest didn't come out of workwear research or years of on-mountain testing — it came directly out of using the Overcoat Fuse™. “The Timberline Fuse™ came from our experience using the Overcoat Fuse™, and wanting something that is a bit more for everyday wear,” Broder says. “It was intended to be a layer that can be worn all day, and is a little more flexible and cozy.”

Where the Overcoat Fuse™ was built for taking a beating in the brush, Timberline™ was made to be warm and snug, for relaxing by the campfire and cold, crisp morning walks.

The design leans into that difference visually as well. “We wanted it to have a sort of retro feel, so we opted for a higher pile and added woven patches.” Those patches reinforce the areas that support the vest's integrated harness, while also delivering the retro vibe the team was after.

And just like the other styles in this collection, the Timberline Fuse™ was created with a dog’s daily life in mind. Built with an integrated harness, it keeps them ready for leash connection at all times, along with side-release buckles that make it easy to take on and off.

Fully Vested In Functional Outerwear

Across the entire Fall/Winter ’26 Collection you can find distinct through-line — gear that’s designed for the specific ways that dogs tend to move, with thoughtful features that simplify their everyday life while supporting their adventures.

Every piece of this collection started with getting our dogs dressed and out the door, and figuring out how we could improve that process every step of the way. Because after all, we’re always creating gear with our own best friends in mind, and how we can make their lives a little bit better.
