This pad gives my dog a place to sun herself and call her own spot. I also use it inside my tent. I do place a closed cell foam pad under it to also provide extra insulation if it’s going to be freezing. It fits on the outside of my back pack. I think it probably fits into or onto a Ruffwear backpack (🤫ours is not) so i just put it on my bag. It packs down pretty small and I consider the tiny bit of extra weight worth it for her.
She is a medium large size and weighs about 60 lbs.
